After 10 years of success with the first generation of Corvette, Chevrolet designers decided it was time to evolve to the next iteration. In 1963, they announced the second generation of the Corvette: The Sting Ray. The Sting Ray not only had a new design, but also offered increased handling prowess and a better drive overall. 1963 was also the first year for a Corvette coupe, which featured a split rear window. Because the split rear window blocked rear vision, it was discontinued for the next production year, making 1963 split-window coupes hard to find and valuable. The 1963 Corvette Coupe has a 98-inch wheelbase and weighs in at 3,015 pounds. It was offered at a base price of $4,252 and there were 10,594 of these vehicles produced.
